Response to the invitation
Have you been invited to a project? Congrats! Apparently, improving your profile has paid off. Now it’s your move!
- Respond to the invitation by accepting or rejecting it. Don’t leave the customer hanging.
- Study the project details including net rates for repetitions and matches, payment terms and other information.
- If you have any questions, you can contact the customer using the built-in chat.
Does the job look appealing? Go ahead and take the opportunity then.
First, accept the invitation. Depending on the project settings, you either will be able to start right away or will have to wait for the customer’s approval. Once you’re approved, you will receive a notification.
Translators use Smartcat’s CAT editor to work on translation projects. CAT editor is a convenient tool that breaks documents into manageable segments. You can view the original text in the left column while translating in the right column. Once you finish translating a segment, you need to confirm that it is completed by hitting Ctrl+Enter.
Please keep in mind that in multi-user projects the first contributor to confirm a segment will be paid for that segment. If you encounter any discrepancies or errors in the original text while translating, don’t hesitate to contact the customer and point out those problems.
Remember that some projects may include translation memories, glossaries, and comments that can be viewed right in the editor. Refrain from using machine translation unless you’re tasked with post-editing the MT output. You can check the project statistics anytime.
Once you have completed the task, get in touch with the customer. You can use the built-in chat to do that. Keep in mind that the customer will need to accept your work before they can pay you. You may need to answer a few questions or make some edits before the customer confirms the task is completed.
Payment will be made as outlined in the project details. You will receive your earnings within 5 business days after the payment is made.

Keep in mind that penalties for missed deadlines or low-quality work may be imposed as outlined in the project details.
